Far-infrared refers to a band of the electromagnetic spectrum just beyond visible light — the same wavelength range your body radiates as heat throughout the day. FIR-active fibres are embedded with mineral compounds that absorb a portion of that radiated heat and re-emit it back toward the skin. The effect isn’t about adding outside energy to the fabric; it’s about recycling the warmth you’re already generating instead of letting it escape into the air around you.
Far-infrared fibre has long been used in sports recovery gear and medical textiles, usually in single-purpose products you’d only wear for an hour at a time.
