Cotton has low thermal conductivity and retains heat. Qmax: the measurement behind the claim

The standard measure for contact cooling is Qmax — the maximum rate of heat flow from skin to fabric, measured in watts per square centimetre (W/cm²). A higher Qmax value means faster heat uptake, which translates to a more pronounced cooling sensation. Industry benchmarks typically classify fabrics with a Qmax above 0.20 W/cm² as cooling fabrics.
