From eucalyptus wood pulp to smooth fibre

Tencel is produced from eucalyptus wood pulp, dissolved in a non-toxic solvent and spun into fibre through a closed-loop process that recovers and reuses more than 99% of the solvent used. Under a microscope, a Tencel fibre has a smoother, more uniform surface than cotton, which has natural irregularities running along its length. That smoothness is what reduces friction against skin overnight, so the fabric feels cool and soft rather than coarse.

A fibre structure built to manage moisture

Tencel fibres contain nanofibrils with a natural affinity for water molecules, letting the fibre absorb and release moisture vapour more efficiently than cotton. In practical terms, the fabric pulls humidity away from the skin as the body cools during sleep, rather than trapping it against the surface where it starts to feel clammy after a few hours.

Pairing Tencel with graphene in one quilt

On its own, Tencel manages moisture. Graphene manages heat distribution and resists dust mites through its dense, hard-to-penetrate fibre surface.
